The story behind Buttercream Bakehouse:
Karrie and Glenn Daze traveled a lot overseas while Glenn was serving in the military. They spent most of their time in Germany, England and a few spots in the US. While overseas, Karrie became a self-taught cake decorator. When asked what brought them here to Greenville, “Oh that easy. South of the snow, north of the gators, and west of the hurricanes.”
Karrie and Glenn started with weddings and then added cupcakes, birthday cakes, breads, lunch. They began in Mauldin on East Butler Road and transitioned to a larger space downtown over 2 years ago. “It just grew. We’ve been careful not to just jump into anything too soon and add on things as we grow.” Karrie explains their future aspirations. “We hope to expand to wholesale for restaurants and other local businesses that are looking for a good local source for desserts. We do some catering now for events and weddings and we want to be able to do more of that for restaurants.”
True to their name, Buttercream Bakehouse uses REAL butter in their buttercream frosting. They also whip up Swiss Buttercream in a plethora of flavors and colors.
Starting in England, Karrie has been decorating cakes for over 12 years. This is a leaf tip, used to pipe details and boarders.
You don’t have to be Clemson fan to appreciate this creamy, crumbly rich goodness. This popular cheesecake does not discriminate.
Karrie explains, “…a lot of people who are not blue cheese fans love it. It’s really different and tastes really good.”
Tiramisu and strawberry and snickers, oh my! Lemon bars made from scratch. It doesn’t get better than this.
Or does it?
Yup. Brownie bars.
These chewy brownies are covered in chocolate ganache, topped with Buttercream’s signature frosting.
“We’ve worked for other people for so long, it’s nice to do your own thing and be your own boss.” After serving in the air force for over 23 years, Glenn retired 9 years ago and still manages to combine his strategic military training and a passion for baking all into one.
Buttercream Bakehouse serves and caters lunches. The lunch special includes a variety of choices of sandwiches, sides, and their signature cupcake or cookie. Don’t forget to ask what’s the soup of the day.
Have a lot of people to feed?
No problem, they’re happy to cater for local schools, businesses, or any other functions.
“There’s no where in Greenville that has a drive through that’s not fast food style, where you can get something homemade and good quality.”
You can choose anything that can go through a window. Picking up a birthday cake? Maybe you want to park.
