Panaderia and Pasteleria Colombiana:
Dora and Miguel Morales opened Pereira Bakery after moving to Greenville from New York eight years ago. With a lifetime of baking experience, they truly understood the need for an authentic Columbian bakery. They have been very successful even with the unusual location on Lee Road off of Wade Hampton Boulevard in Taylors, SC.

“Everything is made fresh. It’s a very popular bakery,” Marta explains to us. She's right. There's a constant flow of cars, work trucks and friendly faces coming in the doors. Oh. And they speak English and Spanish, so language is not a barrier to enjoying the fantastic food.
These unique and tasty treats have an outer crust made with precooked cornmeal that is used to make arepas. They’re filled with stewed meat and diced potatoes. By frying the empanadas they get a crispy exterior, while the cornmeal pastry stays soft inside. Pour on a little hot sauce, also made in-house. The bottles are already on the tables.
The Ararepa de choclo is a buttery corn cake served warm with the slightly salty queso fresca. It’s an incredible journey from sweet to savory that will be unforgettable. It’s one of Pereira Bakery’s top Columbian specialties.
They also serve the very popular, badeja paisa, which is a hearty meal comprising of wide variety of traditional favorites like chicharron, fried egg, plantains, white rice, chorizo, arepa and beans.
Nara Bautista is a huge fan. “Everything is just so authentic, it’s like going over your aunt's house and having a nice warm plate of food. If I’m hungry, the bandeja paisa will always be my favorite. It’s the best Colombian place in town.”
