The New Face of Greenville

Meet Ryan James, MBA, Esq. the new face of Greenville.
He represents our current growth, transition, opportunity and civic pride. “I love to go downtown. It’s such a happening place.” Strong endorsement I’d say from a man who’s lived in the Greater New York City area most of his life. Although he harkens from the northeast where he first started interning for a Supreme Court Justice, his family roots are here in Greenville with his uncle, former state Senator Theo Mitchell. Ryan works for his uncle Theo at The Mitchell Law firm on cases ranging from personal injury and real estate law, to criminal defense. “From working in finance, I learned expansion is going to occur regardless. Greenville is ahead of the curve right now and it’s moving out from here,” says Ryan. ”Progress here was resisted for so long. Progress won out. People evolve along with ideas. Hence, Greenville is evolving.” We are all glad he’s here to be a part of that evolution.
Theo Mitchell, our local celebrity, has himself brought about growth, transition and opportunity to Greenville. He fought for legislation to aid the consumer, our elderly and low-income families in our community. Also, he spearheaded legislation for equal state funding for all school districts, a stronger educational system, and homestead exemption for the elderly. At 78 he’s still going strong, fighting the fight with his law firm where Ryan works with him.
Seen here at a fountain dedicated to his efforts to support public transportation, Theo Mitchell is an active member of The Allen Temple A.M.E. Church where he sings in the male chorus.
Ryan and Theo are gregarious and well known here. Theo boasts 22 years in elected office and 31 years in public service. We can only hope the public service gene will take hold in Ryan and move him to run for office. He has our vote!
It’s no secret Ryan is an avid sports fan. It’s a great way to make friends. “I’ve met so many different folks. Joining the Greenville Sports League is one of the reasons I know so many people.”
Shout out to Joe Wilson. Keep up the good work!
Ryan is looking for the right opportunity to open a bar in Greenville. “Entertaining people is my joy”, he says. If you’re lucky maybe you’ll catch DJ Ryan J spinning his jam at Pour Lounge. His energy and positive love of people helps lead the ever changing face of Greenville. We're proud to say this Northern transplant is ours now!
